Next are two performances of a major new work by LA composer Russell Steinberg for Many Axes and string quartet. The piece is called "Strange Attractors," a term from chaos theory that describes a hidden order within turbulent events. It uses 40 primitive, ethnic, and original instruments, the sounds of which most people have never heard, especially in combination with a traditional string quartet. This world premier is part of a larger concert of works by Steinberg, which should be a wonderful evening of new chamber music played by some of the best musicians in LA, with whom it is an honor to share the stage.

The two performances are:

Monday, March 12, 8:00 PM
Zipper Auditorium (a truly wonderful hall)
Colburn School of Performing Arts
200 S. Grand Ave. (across from Disney Hall)
Los Angeles, CA 90012
$20

Wednesday, March 14, 7:00 PM
Robert Margolis Performing Arts Center
Milken Community High School
15800 Zeldins Way @ Mulholland Dr. (just off the 405)
Los Angeles, CA 90049
$10

Finally, Many Axes is playing at Dangerous Curve, a downtown gallery:

Sunday, March 18, 2007, 4:00 PM

1020 E. Fourth Place
